In 2015, our 102nd Annual Coombs Fair will be held on August 8th and 9th. This year, we’ll be celebrating all things COW, so steer on down for an udderly good time!
Step right up and enter the fair!
Select from any number of fair competitions, from animals classes through domestic science, horticulture and arts & crafts, with categories for all ages. Enter that prized homemade jam, show off your flair with cake decorating, try out a new craft, grow the prettiest flower, there are plenty of choices!
Wander through our animal barns, learn about 4-H skills, pet the bunnies, chickens, and more. Special events unique to our fair include a wacky gardening hat contest, kids’ cover art contest, chicken and duck races, and special merit awards for best educational display. Fair entry books are available at numerous locations throughout the district, or by calling 752-9366 or 752-9757.
As the first fair of the season and one of the largest 4-H shows on Vancouver Island, our fair is often the first opportunity for many 4-H members to display their projects and sharpen their skills before entering other fairs. There are also many classes for youth who are not involved in 4-H programs. Fair participants come from across Vancouver Island, from Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Courtenay, Campbell River, Duncan, Saanich and Victoria.
Join us for the Bingo Tent, all day Saturday & Sunday, or the SPCA Pet Parade, Sunday at 11:00 am, or the Ladies’ Nail Driving Contest, Sunday at 3:00 pm. Rest a while at our music stage, with all-day entertainment provided by a variety of talented musicians, while you enjoy a slice of homemade pie and a good cuppa tea at the Ladies Tea House. Check out our new fair hall, available for rentals year-round. Grab a burger or hotdog from our concession.
You’ll find us on Ford Road in downtown Coombs, turn at the Coombs General Store. The fair is open 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
We hope to encourage as many students as possible to grow their vegetable in the root bag and enter it in the fair.
You can be your own healthy food source.
